Whether you’re a professional affiliate marketer or a beginner, Quora is an EXCELLENT platform to take advantage of and make a quick profit.
I used the word “profit” because, while Quora is indeed free and can be used to get free traffic to your blog or landing page, Quora Ads is a GREAT paid option where you can invest a few bucks and double, or even triple the amount you invested.
Therefore, when using quora, instead of adding your affiliate links directly in the answers and in your ad, you must add the affiliate links in your blog post/landing page and then, add the link of that blog page/landing page inside the quora answers & ads.
So, essentially, you can use Quora for affiliate marketing, in two different ways: Quora Ads (Paid) & Quora Answers (Free).
The paid method involves creating an Ad campaign, targeting your audience based on various targeting methods. So, when they click your ads they’ll be taken to your blog post/landing page.
The Free method involves just answering a bunch of questions on the forum, with a link back to your blog post/landing page.
Trust me. The free method works almost as good as the paid method when you do it the right way.
It just takes a bit more of your effort and time.
I’ll cover both the methods in-detail.
That said, you may want to run ads or you may want to try the free method first. Either way, I strongly recommend you install Quora Pixel on your website.
Adding Quora Pixel on your website
If you want to be able to track, understand and to know what works and what doesn’t in your Quora ad campaigns, you should install the Quora pixel on your blog website/landing page.
What is a pixel?
I’m sure you have experienced something like this:
You’re thinking of buying a new headphone and so, just surfing the internet, reading some reviews online.
The next day… you’re scrolling through your instagram, you see an ad from a headphone company!
You might think Google is reading your mind.
Rest easy. Google is not reading your mind (at least, not yet)
They do this by tracking you with a pixel.
A pixel is just a snippet of code that’s present in the <head> section of a web page you’re visiting, which collects the data of the users visiting that website. It looks like this:
Why do I need to install the pixel?
As I mentioned before, pixel allow you to better understand the behaviour of your users on your website.
Besides, the important reason you should install a pixel is, it helps you retarget the people who have visited your blog post already.
For example, if you have installed the Quora pixel on your website today and left it there for 30 days, the pixel would have gathered information of people who have visited your site on those 30 days.
So, when you decide on running an Ad campaign on quora, you can use this information to re-target these people who have already visited certain pages and posts of your website, which helps improving the odds of making a sale.
How to install the Quora Pixel?
1. Visit Quora. Click on your profile and select “Ads Manager”.
2. If you’re a new Quora Ads user, you will have to create an ad account using the email id you used for your Quora account. Keep filling in the details required and click “Next” till you see the Quora Ads Dashboard.
3. Now you’ll be taken to your Quora Ads Dashboard. Before going to the next step, make sure you’ve confirmed your email by clicking the link that has been to sent your email inbox by Quora.

5. If you’ve selected the “Install manually” option, you’ll see this screen:
Just copy the code and add it in the <head> section of your website.
You may add the optional code if you want and click “Next”.
7. Now, if you want to track any kind of event on your website, select the event that you want to track, copy the “For page load events” code and paste it in the <head> section of the pages you want to track, right below the code that you have added in the previous step.
You may add the “For inline action events” code if you want and click “Done”.
Now, the Quora pixel should be installed on your website.
To check if it’s working, after completing these steps, wait 15-20 minutes and refresh the “Pixels & events” tab.

Now that we have installed the Quora pixel, let’s start with how to use Quora Ads for affiliate marketing.
If you want to read the Free method first, click here.
Method #1: Quora Ads
Quora Ads is one of my favorite ways to promote my affiliate products.
- Cheap compared to other popular Ad Platforms (*cough* Facebook Ads *cough*)
- Quora has over 300 million+ monthly users!. And what’s more impressive is the number’s consistently growing each year!
- Easy to setup and follow up.
- Super Focused Targeting.
- So many topics to target, all under one platform.
I mean, just take a look at this:
So, it’s a great choice for beginners as well as professionals who want to experiment new ad platforms.
Before getting started with Ads campaign, let’s first understand what the campaign structure looks like.
Quora campaign Ad structure
Quora campaigns are divided into three levels:
- Ad Sets
Campaign is the top most and the broadest level of a Quora Ads Structure.
This is where you choose your campaigns objective (Conversions / App Installs / Traffic / Awareness / Lead Generation) and set the daily maximum budget you’re willing to invest.
2. Ad sets
Ad sets are the second & core level of the Quora Ads Structure.
This is where you choose the location(s) & devices(s) on which you want to show your ads and bid for your ads (i.e, set your Cost Per Click or Cost Per Mille).
Ads is where you set your ad, which your audience get to see (i.e, Quora users will see).
You are allowed to select among 3 types of ads: Text, Image, Answer.
A text ad will look like this (Note the “Ads by…” on top of the headline):
This is what an image ad looks like (Note the “Sponsored” tag below the name):
And finally, the promoted answers will look like this (Note the “Promoted by…” above the name):
So, this is how the campaign structure is in Quora Ads.
That is to say, each campaign can have multiple ad sets.
Likewise, each ad sets can have multiple ads.
These 3 levels together form the overall Quora Ads Campaign structure.
Now, let’s get started with Quora Ads.
Creating an Ad Campaign
Step 1. Visit Quora. Click on your profile and select “Ads Manager”.
Step 2. If you’re a new Quora Ads user, you will have to create an ad account using the email id you used for your Quora account. Keep filling in the details required and click “Next” till you see the Quora Ads Dashboard.
Step 3. Now you’ll be taken to your Quora Ads Dashboard. Before going to the next step, make sure you’ve confirmed your email by clicking the link that has been to sent your email inbox by Quora.
Now, Click on “New Campaign”.
Step 4. Enter a campaign name (This name is just for your understanding. It won’t be shown to the users who are seeing your ad. Choose a name relating to the affiliate product you are promoting).
Now, for the “objective” section, you should select “Traffic”, since you’ll be using your Quora Ads to drive traffic from Quora to your blog post/landing page.
Set ‘Daily maximum budget’ of your choice and schedule your Ads as per your need.
Click “Continue” on the bottom right side of the screen.
Step 5. Now, you’ll have to fill in your Ad set details.
Name your ad set (This name is just for your understanding. It won’t be shown to the users who are seeing your ad)
Choose the location(s) of your target, and set the primary targeting method as “Contextual Targeting”.
Under “Contextual Targeting”, you have 3 options to select from: Topics, Keywords, and Questions.
Topics: This is what I recommend you to select if you’re a beginner. What this option does is, it’ll show your ad(s) to the quora users who are following the topics you have added.
For example, if you have added the topic “Web Hosting”, your ad(s) will be shown to the followers of that topic. In this case, it’ll be shown to 289.9k people:
Keywords: If you’re going with this option, your ad(s) will be shown near all the questions containing the keywords you have added.
Considering you’re adding the keyword “Web Hosting”, your ad(s) will be shown near all the questions containing that keyword.
For example, here is a text ad, based on the keyword “Web Hosting”:
Questions: This is the simplest option to choose from. What this option does is, it simply shows your ad(s) near the questions you have added.
For example, if you have added the question “Which is the best web hosting?”, your ads will be shown near that question:
Step 6. Now, select the devices & browsers where you want to show your ad(s) and select the genders you want to target.
Set the “Ad delivery” as “Optimize for clicks”.
By selecting this option, quora’s algorithm understands that you want the people to click on your ads. And so, it will place the ads in the perfect places for that to happen. Also, you will have to pay per click.
If you select the the option “Optimize for impressions”, you will be paying per thousand impressions.
For beginners, I recommend you go with “Optimize for clicks”.
You may go for “Optimize for impressions” later, once you know which ads are doing better and whether it will be profitable or not.
Set the CPC bid. Quora automatically shows you a suggested bid, which is a safe choice to go with if you’re not sure how much you want to set it to.
After setting the CPC bid, click “Continue”.
Step 7. With that, the Ad set is done. Now, comes the fun part. Name your Ad (This name is just for your understanding. It won’t be shown to the users who are seeing your ad)
Choose which type of ad you want to show to your audience. Text or Image or Promote an answer.
I suggest you go with either Text ad or Image ad if you’re a beginner.
Step 8. Fill in the other required details, upload your logo and enter your landing page URL (Landing page URL is the link of your blog post/landing page which you want your users to go to, when they click your ad)
After filling in all the details click “Continue”.
Now, if you’re new Quora Ads user, you will be asked to enter your payment details.
Fill in the details and you’re done. If you have scheduled your ad to start immediately, it will start as soon as your logo gets approved.
And that’s it!
Now, whenever someone views your ad and clicks on it, they will be taken to your landing URL (A blog post or an Affiliate landing page).
And you will start making money when they buy something using the affiliate links you have added to your blog or landing page.
Method #2: Quora Answers
This method is simple.
You just have to find questions related to the product(s) you’re promoting and answer them with a link back to your blog/landing page:
For example, let’s say you have written a post about the best headphones. The process of promoting your blog post looks like this:
1. Visit Quora and search for the keyword “best headphones”.
2. You’ll get the results of the questions related to the keyword you have searched for. Pick a question which has the most follows and answer the question. (Answer as much questions as you can)
3. At the end of your answer, add a link to your blog post/landing page mentioning “Read more here”.
That’s it. You now just have to wait for people to read your answer and visit your blog post.
To give you an idea, the below-shown answer contains less than 300 words but has a whopping 7.2k views!
That’s potentially 7200 people visiting your people from ONE answer.
Now, now, not everyone will click through your link to your blog post, but even if 5% of the total viewers do click, that’s almost 300+ visitors from ONE answer.
The number may vary depending on the number of follows of the question but hey, it’s free traffic. Who wouldn’t want that?
You probably already knew this method.
But, what if I tell you there’s a better way to do this?
A way that will get you hundreds or even thousands of views for each question you have answered.
Great. Behold the Crown Jewel Questions.
Bonus Secret Tip: Crown Jewel Questions
Alright, first of all, why is it called the “Crown Jewel Questions”?
Because, these questions, when answered with a great answer, gets the most views on that topic.
In fact, these questions get a crazy number of views that put every other question to so much shame they should be marched naked through the streets of King’s Landing.
Woah! How to find these questions?
1. Complete step 1 – step 4 of creating an Ad Campaign (Don’t worry, finding these questions is totally free)
2. Once you complete step 4 of creating an Ad Campaign, you’ll see the below screen:
Here, Choose “Contextual Targeting” as the primary targeting option, select “Questions”, and click on “Bulk add”.
3. Now, enter a keyword related to your affiliate product.
For example, if you’re promoting headphones:
Click on “Continue”.
4. Here’s the interesting part.
After entering your keyword, you’ll be shown a list of questions with their estimated weekly views:
Now you have real data from Quora on how much views your answers will approximately get for a specific question.
5. Now, you just click on the questions you want to answer and it will take you to that question page.
Here, click on the “3 dots dropdown” option and click “Answer later”:
Repeat this for as much questions as you need.
6. When you’re done, you can find the questions you’ve chosen to answer later in the “Answer drafts” section under “Answer”:
Now you just have to answer these questions one-by-one with a link back to your blog post/landing page.
Remember, the views you saw on the Quora Ads campaign screen is “Weekly views”.
So, if it has showed around 500 views per week, potentially, you’ll get around 2k views in a month, for one answer!
Evidently, Quora is one of the best platforms for affiliate marketing when it comes to generating traffic. Be it free or paid.
Just remember this:
Also, when you’re using the ‘Crown Jewel Questions” method, do not make it a short 200 words answer with a link back to your blog post/landing page.
If you do, your answer will probably get collapsed by Quora for being too short and not providing enough value.
Therefore, make sure you answer the questions you’ve chosen as best as you could.
Now, go use the wonderland that is quora, for affiliate marketing and make some money.
